Rupert Murdoch at Leveson

James Murdoch confirms that in September 2009 he had drinks with David Cameron and made clear that The Sun would 'moving away' from supporting Labour to endorse the Conservatives.

Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger points out that the meeting was during the same period that News Corp's BSkyB takeover bid was being considered.
We're now getting a fascinating insight into the level of access that James Murdoch had to high level politicians.
We've learned of a conference call with Prime Minister in October 2005 in which Murdoch lobbied Tony Blair over football rights.
Combine that with social interaction with Gordon Brown, 'He would have told me lots of things about the economy and the like'.
And he says he met with David Cameron as leader of the opposition 'at dinners or other people's house'.
It may not be surprising but it is a window into the world of the powerful. Now the inquiry is getting to it's key question - did Murdoch try to use those links to influence its bid to take over BSkyB?
And was the Murdoch's support for political parties influenced by this business interest?
