Britain saw tourism slump during the Olympics, according to a leading trade association for tour operators.
UKinbound's survey of 250 tourism businesses revealed 66% of them saw significantly lower inbound tourism bookings or visitors numbers between July 23 and August 12, compared to the same period in 2011.
Furthermore, 22% reported that numbers were slightly lower.
The survey, which included tour operators, hoteliers and visitor attractions, showed that tourist traffic fell across the UK and not just in London.
The group said many travellers side-stepped Britain altogether in order to avoid travel into the nation's biggest gateway, London.
Commenting on the findings, Rita Beckwith chief executive of City Cruises said: "As an industry we knew the Games would have a negative impact on international visitor numbers to London but the impact on the rest of the UK, combined with domestic visitors staying away, has been deeply disappointing."
